The presses do not come with an instruction manual, but you can find both written and video tutorials herePlease note this page is for the press only (dies & snaps sold separately).  If you would like to order plastic snaps and corresponding dies as well, we recommend ordering from our Snap Press w/ Plastic Snaps & Dies Bundle page for the best deal.

Not sure which model to get?

Generally speaking, we recommend the DK-98 because it is a heavier duty model.  However, both models will do an equally professional job of applying snaps.  Dies are specific to each model, so you must always specify which model you have when purchasing dies.  Here are some of the differences between the DK-98 and DK-93:

DK-98

- $82.99 for tan color; $84.99 for limited edition blue or red

- Heavier duty, weighs approx 20 lbs.

- Considered the "professional" model.

- Curved handle makes it slightly easier on the arm.

- Uses smooth shank dies.

- Approx 2-3/4" clearance for your project from the die base to the body of the press, sufficient for most projects.

DK-93

- $79.99 for green color.

- Weighs approx 13 lbs.  Lighter weight makes shipping internationally more cost-efficient.

- Straight handle, longer body.

- Uses screw-in dies.

- Provides a greater clearance from the die base to the body of the press than the DK-98, so can accomodate larger projects.

Press & Dies Disclaimers:

Superficial Blemishes

Presses and dies may have traces of oil, dust, rust, uneven or chipped paint or surfaces, or other cosmetic imperfections from the manufacturing process. This is how they come to us, and we do not have any control over it. This will not affect their functionality. We recommend you wipe the press and dies down prior to use and attach a few snaps on discard fabric to clean the dies out. Due to their heavy weight, presses may also have paint/surface scratches, knicks or other superficial "wounds" caused during shipping.

We cannot guarantee that products will be free of superficial blemishes unfortunately and we are unable replace or refund any press or dies unless a defect affects the function of the item. These possible cosmetic imperfections are reflected in the price. If this is not acceptable, please consider purchasing a different brand of press.

Shipping

Most snap presses are shipped using USPS flat-rate boxes, in order to provide you with the best value. This provides a savings of up to 75% off weight-based shipping. However, because the presses are so heavy and must fit within the USPS-provided flat-rate boxes, there is a limit on how much packaging material we can use. As such, your package may arrive somewhat damaged superficially. The actual press, dies, and snaps themselves, minus any plastic bags or boxes that hold them, are insured against damage.

If you would prefer not to utilize the USPS flat-rate priority shipping boxes, you may upgrade shipping to regular USPS priority mail based on weight. Please send us an email requesting this, along with your shipping address, so that we may manually invoice you for the additional shipping charges (approximately $30 but an exact quote will be provided upon request).

A signature may be required upon delivery of snap presses.

I borrowed my friends press when a couple snaps fell of my cloth diapers and was sold on needing to get one. I'm gonna go for pliers though since I need it more for small fixes for making diaper :) But I'd recommend it to anyone who makes diapers, it was super easy to use!!!

Just received my press - I'm really impressed by how heavy duty it is, and compared to the pliers, the finished snaps look SO much nicer with SO much less work! I was a little worried that changing between socket & stud dies would be a pain, but it literally takes seconds. Thanks so much!

I have a DK-98 I got it to make cloth diapers, and have enjoyed it so much that now I have many other things with resin snaps. However I thought that I would try metal snaps, and I can’t seem to get it to work, I think it might just need some instructions on how to use the dies.

I am so glad I bought my snap press. I have the DK-98 and use it to snap paci holders, clothes, toy clips, bags, and anything that falls apart! My husband converted mine into a foot press and makes using it much easier as I have two hands available to steady project. I am hoping to one day get a second so I don't have to change out the dies.

Thank you so much for a wonderful product! Using the DK-98 requires little effort and arm strength. I applied snaps in under 30 seconds versus two full minutes fussing with snap pliers from Dritz! I just received my DK-98 snap press, and could not be more excited!! I have a new best friend in my sewing room! Right out of the box I went to work, putting snaps on just about anything that would stand still! SOOOOOOOO easy!!! I used to fight with the Dritz pliers I had, and the other hammer/awl tools to apply snaps, which all generally ended in irritation. This makes their application simple, quick, and easy! My only regret is that I didn't give in to ordering it sooner! KamSnaps was so easy and wonderful to work with, I HIGHLY recommend!!!!

After thinking about it for weeks I just decided to go ahead and get the DK-98, and I am glad that I did! It shipped to me relatively fast for me living in Hawaii. I love using this snap press to make bibs, diaper bags, attach toys on to anything, making cloth diapers and anything else I can think of! I just watched the tutorial once to learn how to put it together and it was really simple to do. It's a really good investment for anyone looking to awaken their creative abilities.

I bought my first press (dk 98) as my first real investment nearly 4 years ago when I started making cloth diapers. I've since used it for everything and even bought a second press so I wouldn't have to switch the male and female dies all the time. I am so glad that I chose to forgo the pliers as putting on snaps with my press is SO much easier. I don't even use an awl, just place and press!
I have literally placed thousands of snaps and see no need for a "heavier duty" version as my dk-98's show no signs of slowing... now if only they'd invent a die that allowed you to set more than one snap at a time. :)

Believe it or not I bought a press and snaps to make my own cloth panytliners. Not only are the snaps way easier to attach than the velcro, they are also much more comfortable. No matter how you try to cover the velcro there always seems to be an edge poking you; you don't even feel the snaps. Have not tried other methods of attaching snaps; I just went straight to what looked best, and so far -- it is. I've just ordered more dies (for size 20; I'm using size 16 on the pantyliners since the fabric is so thin) and snaps; I'm sure I will use these on a lot of projects.

I use my snap press for diapers and it does an amazing job. It is easy to use and does a great job. The only thing I wish it came with was an awl. It needs a little help poking holes through pul material. It is heavy, but that is a good thing because it will not slide around when you are doing a project.

I waited a long time before purchasing a press and I wish I had sooner! I love it. I have never used pliers so I can't compare, but I can't imagine squeezing pliers 28 times per each OS pocket diaper! I have not experienced a difficult learning curve at all... mine was good to go right out of the box! Not one wonky snap yet!
I was going to say that I wished the allen wrenches were included - but a few days later I found them in the package!
Judy is very quick to respond to any questions.

I use the snap press (DK 98) mostly for diapers, But I have used it for many other things as well such as replacement snaps, soother holders, sleepers etc. I recently tried the metal snaps. I have to say that I am so excited to have this machine! I have tried others and they just do not compare. I find this so easy to use that I haven't lost interest-it is still a "toy". I have owned this since the summer of 2009. My kidsand husband have even used it and it didn't break. WOW- must be strong! I really believe that this machine is very much worth buying as it uses excellent quality snaps, you can use many different sizes, shapes and colors and their are either plastic or metal snaps-both very durable.I wash my diapers in hot water and dry on hot temperature and the snaps do not come off fade, crack,or even scratch. It is simple to change the shanks and if you accidentally put a snap peice in crooked, the machine is not picky, the peice will move into place. It is so easy and fun!

This snap press pays for itself just by skipping the headache that comes along with applying snaps. If you buy this press, you will soon find yourself putting snaps on EVERYTHING! After struggling for years I ordered the 98 press. I LOVE IT!! I couldn't be happier with my decision. The ease of applying the snaps and the peace in knowing they are going to stay put is wonderful. I have many patterns where snaps are called for and decided I would just use velcro (NOT my favorite choice in certain circumstances) until I found Kamsnaps press. I am looking forward to purchasing the plastic snaps and dies. My only recommendation (poor eyesight here) would be to code the coordinating dies to be easier to place. Now I have them in bags to help with the coordination of dies and snap segments. Thanks so much. I am so glad I found your site!

** I forgot to add on my review of the 98 press that it came in RED!!! That really made me happy : -)) and that I can make snaps stay on
thick material with the long prongs. Thanks so much! I could not be happier with my choice to purchase.

I ordered the Kam Press DK98 about 9 months ago to make cloth diapers with snaps. I was making them with velcro/aplix but didn't like the extra work and the hassle of keeping the aplix from getting stuck to other items when washing the diapers. I received the press quickly and in great condition. I loved the free snaps that came along with it. It was enough to get me started and gave me an idea of what I would like/not like before I invested in different types of snaps. It didn't take long for me to venture out and use the press to add snaps to other items. I found the dies easy to switch out and use. I did label the baggies with the snap size as I found it hard to figure out what size snaps the dies went to without getting a socket or stud out to fit onto it to see what size the die was. The warning to not press your fingers seemed silly to me, but trust me, you can get a finger in the way if you don't pay careful attention and pinch your finger. It hurts!!! I didn't anchor my press since I like to put it up on a shelf when I'm not using it. I find it very sturdy freestanding and a base or permanently anchored unnecessary. It is quite heavy, which lends itself to the stability of the press when in use. The clearance between the two dies is great for making sure your work is lined up and out of the way.

I absolutely love having the press. It has made my sewing life much easier. I've used it to add snaps to several tote bag, countless diapers, a wallet, a prefold diaper, and a purse. I have many other sewing plans for my press.

I know of some people who have rented out their press, so if you are worried about cost/use consider letting others know you own a press and renting it out when not in use. I am part of a natural mommies group and I love sharing my press with other mommies who are sewing diapers and want to go the snap route.

I purchased the DK-98 at the end of July 2009. Shipping was extremely fast. Assembly of the press was a breeze. I should have been less excited and wiped down the press and the dies better before putting it all together and using it.

Personally I found there an adjustment period for the press. The new press for me was very difficult to get to press the snaps right, no matter how I adjusted it. The only thing I have found to help this is TIME to break it in. Even sitting on the press handle would not get a good press early on.

I grew frustrated with the press and out of a crafting spell, so let it sit for awhile (craft items get time outs too) Recently I have gone back to my crafts, as well as some new ones.

When I started using the press again I found I had to pound down on the handle about 10 times to get a good press. This has really helped to break in the press. I am now down to 3 pounds per snap, and I think that is more for precaution and habit than necessity.

The breaking in time period is frustrating, but once the press is broken in it is a dream. So much easier than sewing on buttons and button holes, and faster too.

I honestly considered selling this press shortly after I got it. I had gotten it to make my life easier and early on only found frustration with it and destroyed projects. My reward for not giving up on this item has really done what I originally wanted it to. I can't even imagine the money I have saved making items myself including my press, as well as the compliments I have gotten on the items the snaps are included on.

Last side comment, an awl is needed with this item. I wish it was included in the package.

I have had my press for about 3 weeks now and its great. It is soooo much faster than the pliers I had before. No making sure the pieces are lined up or worrying you are going to smash the cap. Just pop the pointy cap through, press the socket or stud onto the press, and push down the lever. Boom! youre done. Its great. Great quality, craftsmanship and comes with everything you need to snap it up. I have even added snaps to the hem of my 6 year olds pants to make tem shorter without throwing a new hem in them! Great for cloth diapers and those annoying mens boxers that didnt come with a button.

I purchased the DK-98 professional model and love it! I also have the pliers, but have not tried any other snap presses.
I've mainly used my press to do snap conversions on cloth diapers.
The snap press is heavy (as indicated in the product description), but still managable. It is harder to press down to apply the snap than I thought, but I prefer it over my pliers. It is very easy to get the fabric and snaps lined up, and never have a crooked snap. I love that there's a little more clearance with the press than the pliers.
At first, I was annoyed to need to change out the dies to switch between the cap and socket (unnecessary with the pliers). It is very simple though and just takes a second.
I've been using it pretty regularily for half a year or so and it still works perfectly.
All in all, I really like the snap press, and prefer it over the pliers.

I make cloth diapers and have been using the pliers for awhile. Although they do the job I frequently would crack studs and often had issues with snaps just not "smashing" evenly. Well I decided it was time to invest in a k-98 press and OMG!!! The best investment I've made in regards to my diapering business! For starters it very simple to put together and the video & photo tutorials explain everything. I tested out my first snap and was in total awe! What a difference from the pliers! Again they do the job but if you want a professional looking snap this press is the way to go! It is as easy as it looks. I have no problem at all with giving enough pressure on the handle and I just have "mommy" baby carrying muscles. It is a very heavy piece of equipment and by all appearances is going to last well past my life time. The dies are very easy to put in and out too. Perfection when it comes to diapering snaps!!! Oh and I use the size 20 snaps and dies. Don't think about it for months like I did, just get it!

I bought a Kam DK-98 professional press and I am so glad I did! I love how easy it is to efficiently set my snaps into all of my projects! The press has easy to change dies, and sets the snaps perfecty! It took a bit of breaking in, but after setting about 100 snaps, it has gotten really easy to use. I use it for my business and also for all the great projects around the house, too! I would highly reccommend it to anyone for all their snapping needs!

I love my snap press. I have the DK-98 and use it for lots of different things. I have used it to make cloth diapers, onsies, pacifier holders, shirts, dresses, stuffed animal collars, etc. I have even used it to apply a snap to a pair of my husbands boxers that just wouldn't stay closed ;) Definitely worth every penny! The only down fall is the bulk of it. It is a bit heavy and takes some strength/energy if you are doing a lot of snaps but nothing too bad. I would definitely recommend the press if you like to create!
