Dies for Presses

In most cases, you will need a different set of dies for each type, style and size of snaps.  Dies for plastic snaps will not work for metal snaps, and dies for one style and/or size of metal snaps will generally not work with another style and/or size of metal snaps.  If you are unsure whether your existing dies are compatible with a certain snap, please feel free to contact us.

Our dies are intended to be used with our KAM presses and snaps.  We cannot guarantee compatibility if you mix any of our products with products of other brands.

Dies may have traces of oil, rust, and general "goo" from the manufacturing process and may not look "pretty".  This is how they come to us, and we have no control over it.  We recommend you wipe them down prior to use as well as attach a few snaps on discard fabric to clean the dies out.  Dies made of metal can be lightly oiled to prevent rusting.

When purchasing dies, you must always specify the press model you have because dies are different for each model.

Types of Dies

Actual dies may vary from those pictured.

A complete set of dies for plastic snaps includes a round/star cap die, socket die, and stud die.  We offer 2 different size 20 cap dies: one that fits just round caps, and one that fits both round caps and star caps.  

Plastic snaps in sizes 14 and 16 have the identical sockets and the identical studs--only the caps are different.  So if you already own a die set for one of those sizes, you may use the socket die and stud die for both sizes.  All you need is a separate cap die.

Shaped caps use size 20 studs, sockets, and plain caps.  If you already have size 20 dies, all you need is an additional cap die for the shaped cap.

Metal snaps and corresponding dies are available only for a limited time.  After our current supply runs out, they will be discontinued.
